Oh Lily! Ha ha

Driving in the car, a Whitney Houston song comes on the radio.
Ella: mom, why do you like this song?
Me: I don't.
Then I change the station.
Lily: Turn it back.
I turn the station back. Lily starts wiggling.
Lily: My butt likes this song. See it dancing?

A few minutes later...
Ella: Lily, why do you like this song?
Lily. I don't. My butt likes this song.

I really don't know where she came from.

Shrimpland

Overheard my kids talking tonight
Ella: Hey Lily, should we try to talk dad into taking us to Yogurtland while mom is working?
Lily: No, I want to go to shrimpland!
Ella: What's shrimpland?
Lily: I don't know. I've never been. But everything is probably made of shrimp.
Ella: So you really don't want to go to Yogurtland tonight?
Lily: Do they have shrimp there?

Lily: My friend at church asked me if I could play with her tomorrow. I told her to text me. But guess what? I don't even have a phone. So maybe we should go get me a phone in case she tries to text me.

Why I love the moon

Lily: Do you know why I love the moon so much? Ella: Why Lily: Because My favorite color is white. And Blue, and red, and green. And my favorite color is orange, and turquoise, and gold. All the colors are my favorite colors.
Ella: So that makes you love the moon? Lily: Well..... Yes!

I can't believe I have a 4th grader. Summer was way too short.

Random things Lily has told me this month.

Lily: I'll still love you even when I'm a grandma and you are dead.

Lily: I love you even though you don't like things in-between your toes. Like, you know. You don't like cereal between your toes. Or chicken nugget crumbs.

Lily: When I grow up I want to be a designer.
Me: What do you want to design for a job?
Lily: Seashells for the beaches in San Diego.

Memorial Day 2013

My kids really wanted to go to the dentist today. They begged and pleaded to go. Since we didn't have an appointment, and since the dentist was closed today anyhow, we decided to visit some graves instead.

We visited my grandpa & Tyler's Grandparents'. We also visited Trisha's grave. We miss her so much.

While we were on our vacation last week, I kept looking for her.  Every time I checked to see if everyone was with us, I was about to ask everyone "where's Trisha?" But then I remembered.

Trisha's Headstone

They put Trisha's headstone up yesterday. My mom let me design it. It's a lot scarier to design a headstone than I thought it would be. Luckily it turned out okay. We miss you Trisha!

No Joke

I love April Fools Day. Unfortunately, two years ago today we got some bad news. Trisha found out she had a tumor. We wished it was just a mean joke, but it wasn't . Sad.

Anyhow, There were some family members and a few friends who were sad that they couldn't make it to her funeral. For them, I put together a downloadable PDF file of Trisha's Eulogy. I've also made it into an e-book that you can download and read on your Kindle or iPad.

Please don't pay attention to the spelling and formatting errors. I didn't have a lot of extra time to put it together properly.

Lily: Mom, we forgot to put up the April Fool's Day decorations.
Me: We don't have any.
Lily: Oh, uhhhhh, April Fools!

She's really into this holiday this year. I feel bad that I didn't do more to celebrate.
She even tried to convince me to tell the Sales Clerk that the store was on fire during our trip to the grocery store this afternoon.

St. Patricks Day & a Pig door

 We've been wanting to turn my mom's pink door into a pig for a while now.

 My kids wanted to do something fun for St. Patrick's Day. So we planned a breakfast.

Missing Trisha

 My little sister, Trisha passed away last week. Her funeral was today. She's been sick for over two years. She had 2 inoperable brain tumors and skin cancer during that time. It's sad that she got so sick. She was so healthy and active throughout her life. They tested her blood a few weeks ago and said it looked healthier than most people's blood. While in the hospital she got pneumonia. She was an incredible person. I miss her so much. My kids miss her a lot too. She lived across the street from us and was like a second mom to them.
