sleeping disorder

My kids haven't been sleeping well, especially since we've moved into our new house. I'm thinking of making a pillow like this, so I can sleep comfortably whenever an opportunity arises. She looks almost as tired as I feel.

something exciting is going to happen

Ella: Mom, something very exciting is going to happen very soon! Do you want to know what it is?
Me: Sure
Ella: On your last birthday, you will be as big as dad.
Me: I will?
Ella: Can you not wait?

My birthday is in less than a month, I hope it's not my last!

Self Sufficient

Ella: Mom, remember when I was a little girl, like when I was 2, and you had to take care of me.
Me: Yes
Ella: And now I'm bigger, and you don't take care of me, cause I can take care of myself.
Me: I don't have to take as much care of you now, but I still take care of you.
Ella: How do you?
Me: I feed you, and wash you, and do your laundry.
Ella: But remember you gave me the washing machine for my birthday, and I just let you use it? Is that so nice of me?

It's true, I did give her the washing machine for her birthday. I can't believe she remembers, as she didn't act very excited about it when she unwrapped it. She's never used it since it's been hers, I guess it's pretty nice of her to let me use it.

Ella's Christmas wish list '08

We checked this book out from the library last week. Ella has told me several times that these are the definitely the spikes she'd like on her back. More than the "bone horn" or the "plates" she has previously mentioned.

Self Defense

Ella: Mom, do you wish I could have a bone horn on my head?
Me: No
Ella: well, I wish I could have one.
Me: Why?
Ella: In case some humans act like animals, and try to push me, I can defend myself.
Pause
Ella: Now do you wish I could have a bone horn on my head?

Sometimes I have no clue how I should be responding to such questions.

Very Helpful

Lily loves to pretend she's helping. Today she helped with the dishes. After I loaded dirty dishes, she unloaded them.

When she finished unloading the bottom rack, she headed for the top. I don't have a picture of her when she was actually in the dishwasher, my phone died just as I was about to take the picture. (My camera phone is my main camera until next week, better photos then.)

Ella: Mom, where was I before I came to your tummy?
Me: Heaven
Ella: I came from Heaven? And Lily came from Outer space?

Way better than Disneyland

Tyler and I spent all day trying to catch up on orders. Ella & Lily found ways to entertain themselves. After eating all the loose carpet in the family room, Lily headed to the kitchen and helped herself to some (not so fresh) popcorn & soda.

The highlight of the day, was our 10 minute Family Home Evening trip to Lowes for some wire. Lily had fun singing along with the music.

Ella danced & had a great time.
Tyler and I really know how to provide fun times for our kids on a regular basis. We should really stop spoiling them with so many fun activities.
