Master Bathroom

Tyler just finished the tub surround in our Master bathroom. YAY! Here it is.

This is my vanity. Our black Quartz countertops were free. We just had to pay to have them cut & installed. I plan on painting the frames on the mirrors gloss black. Eventually I'd like to paint some of the walls a dark/almost black gray.

This is our chandelier that we got for $25. After searching online, we are convinced it's worth a few thousand dollars.

The walk in shower is my favorite. No more cleaning glass shower doors. You can't tell from the picture, but the shower tile is glossy & matte white checkered.

Scrapbook Retreat

My sister Emily and I just got back from helping out at a Scrapbook Retreat in Las Vegas last weekend. We stayed in a beautiful hotel, helped with classes, hosted a Make-&-Take, found some garage sales, and met some nice people.


Thanks for your help Emily! She also came up with, and put together the Make-&-Take as shown above.


We sold a lot of stamps, and a few more shops plan to carry our line. It was a successful trip.

Ella's Room

Thank you for all your nice comments on my house. I've had a few requests for our floor plan. You can find it here. The colors I've shown below are as follows;

Green (Ella's Room): Benjamin Moore Stem Green.
Blue (kitchen): Martha Stewart Rainwater.
Creamy Yellow (Family Room): Eloquent Ivory.

This is my old dresser I had growing up. It used to be brown, but Tyler painted it white.

This chandelier was supposed to be white, but when we received it in the mail, it was a dark taupe color. I liked the taupe, but it didn't work with the bright green walls, so I painted it pink.


This fabric covered cork board is from Hobby Lobby. Ella loves to hang her drawings from it.

Ella's Growth Chart.

I had a white paper tissue poof hanging in the corner (above), but it fell. My ladder is one step too short for me to reach the ceiling. The mirror on the left wall was $10 at a garage sale. The mirror next to the bed is a hand-me-down from my mom. Thanks mom!


Ella got the cute pink leather chair from Tyler's parents a few Christmases ago. I still plan on putting some vinyl and hanging a cute picture of Ella in her room.

Kitchen / Dining Room

Here's our kitchen. (View from the family room). Our flooring is from Costco.

The light above our dining room table was our splurge. It was on sale, but still quite expensive. In my opinion, it's worth every penny. It looks better in person. If you haven't seen it, you should really come over some time. You're all invited.



Eventually we would like to put a buffet table with a nice picture hanging above it, on the blue wall behind our kitchen table. The door in the picture above leads to my office. Adjacent from the office is our garage door. We'd like build in a bench and some coat hangers in the empty space between the two doors.


Our kitchen Island is painted grey. These weren't the pendant lights I had origionally imagined above our island, but when I saw them, I couldn't resist them.

Our counter-tops are Quartz and have tiny copper speckles in them.

View from our dining into our family room. Notice the picture on our far wall that Ella put up. I think she's more excited about decorating this house than I am. With the help of Tyler's parents, we re-painted & stained our dining room table to match our new house better.

Tyler's brother brought our cabinets up from St. George and helped Tyler install them.
We want to put a grey colored glass subway tile back-splash up between the cupboards and countertop.

Since we built our house ourselves, and it wasn't much more, cost wise. We decided to do the taller 8 foot doors throughout the house. We were sad when we found out that the door style we wanted didn't come in 8 foot. Luckily they came out with this new style of door that we happen to like just in time for us to install them.

Family Room

Most of you have seen my house, so I wasn't going to post pictures. Especially since it's not really decorated yet. It probably will take a few years to decorate. I've had so many requests for pictures from friends and family out of the state. I decided it would be nice to post some despite my lack of furniture and decor.

This is our family room. The fireplace mantel was only $200. It had a lot of damage near the bottom and some near the top, but Tyler was able to fix it up nicely. You can't tell from the picture, but the mantel is quite large. It was a closeout from Interior Elements that was going out of business in Draper.



This is our stair railing. I thought it would be fun to alternate design patterns. We also got a fantastic deal on this railing, thanks to the internet.

This is our front entry. The door is huge. We got this door for a steal. I can't remember the exact price, but I think we saved almost $2,000 on this door. Someone had ordered it hinged on the wrong side, luckily it worked for our house.

Tyler found this fun entry light, and I quite like it.

Lily's Friday Fashion

My mom thinks I should take a picture of Lily every-time she changes her cloths. If I were to do that, I'd be taking more pictures than a full time professional photographer. If not more, since I'd be up snapping shots during the wee hours of the morning as well as during the day.







And just for fun, here's a picture of Ella; because we miss her while she's at school all day.

lunch for breakfast

Lily: Mom, I awake.
Me: I know.
Lily: I want breakfast.
Me: Yay! You called it breakfast. (She usually calls it lunch).
Tyler: Lily, what do you want to eat for breakfast?
Lily: uhhh... lunch.


Lily: I want a dog to pet me.
Me: You want to pet a dog?
Lily: No I want a cute ito (little) dog to pet me.

Isn't she cute? Does someone want to come over and put her to bed for me?

Ella is learning to write Chinese Characters at school. Sometimes, however, she gets distracted and decides to draw a snout-nosed, cheesy dragon instead. Don't let his smile fool you. Can you see the 2 dead people on his tail?

$2 Tuesdays

Lily had a great time with her cousins at Thanksgiving Point today. We haven't told Ella about our field trip yet. She was at school and would be very disappointed that she missed an outing with Cait. Can you tell I feel guilty about going without her?

Open for tours

I know I haven't invited anyone over to our new house yet. It's not because I'm forgetting about you, but as you can see in the picture above (taken less than a week ago), our house has been kind of, well, actually a TOTAL a mess. Just when I thought we were starting to get settled, we'd have to pull everything out of all the closets to finish baseboards, or paint, or finish another project here or there.

Although we are not completely finished building our house, I finally, today, am officially inviting anyone who would like to come over for a tour of our new house to come on over. Please don't expect anything grand, we still have a ways to go on the decorating, and we aren't finished un-packing yet; but we are finally starting to feel a little settled.

*Tip: Don't ever move into a house that isn't finished. Especially if you have a toddler.

Garage Sales

I've been having fun shopping at garage sales this summer. Above is what I bought at an estate sale today. Everything shown in the picture above was purchased for $19. I was just thinking yesterday that I needed to start collecting trinkets like this for a display I'm working on for the Craft & Hobby Show I'm attending.
