Cute gifts

Our conversation on our way home from the school bus;

Ella: Mom, I want Ava to come over and play.
Me: I know, but she has to run errands with her mom, besides Carter's mom just called and we are going to hang out with them for a little while.
Ella: But mom, I want to play with Ava, and I'm not going to go with you and the neighbors.
Me: But it's my birthday... will you come with us because it's my birthday, and it would make me happy?
Ella: It's your birthday?
Me: Yep.
Ella: For real?
Me: Yep.
Ella: Like this day?
Me: Yep.
Ella: I have so many wonderful gifts for you.
Me: You do?

Of course I laughed when she said that not realizing that she was serious.

When we got home, Ella ran up stairs and from under her bed, she pulled a whole pile of gifts that she had been making over the past few months. They were all wrapped. It actually took me quite a while to open all of them. She asked me if it felt like Christmas because I had so many presents. It DID feel like Christmas. It's been many years since I've opened a bunch of gifts on my birthday. It was such a fun surprise. I got some toys she made, a few cards, some other things that I'm not quite sure what they are, but they were very thoughtful. My favorite though, is this house charm. I wore it today as a necklace. This picture doesn't do it justice, but it is very cute in real life. It's a very little & detailed house, less than an inch in length. Ella even laminated it with clear tape, so it won't get ruined in the rain.

Although I spent most of the day cleaning and working... I think this has been one of my best birthdays. Thanks Ella!
